It has been claimed part of the terms of Couture returning to the UFC was an assurance he would one day face Emelianenko inside the Octagon.

But The Natural revealed UFC president White has made no promises as to when or even IF a fight with the 31-year-old will happen.

Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Couture said: “I don’t think there are any guarantees.

“I realised through the course of the last year that there are no guarantees and that I could spend another year toiling away at the legal system and still not get to fight Fedor.

“First and foremost I’m a fighter and that’s what I want to do so it made a lot of sense to at least try and get him to the table with the UFC.

“There are a lot of obstacles there that will prevent that from happening but there is some hope that it could happen.

“I’m not going to worry about it.”

　クートゥアがUFCに復帰する条件のひとつにエメリヤーエンコ（・ヒョードル）とオクタゴンで対戦することを保証があったという主張がありました。

　しかし、The Natural（クートゥア）は今後対戦が実現したとしても、UFC代表ホワイトとは、そういう約束はしていないと言いました。

　SunSportにのみクートゥアは話してくれました。「私はどんな保証もあるとは思ってません」

「私はこの1年、何の保証もない状態で法廷闘争に時間を費やし、ヒョードルと対戦することは叶わないことを痛感しました」

「第一に、私はファイターです。そして、この決断は少なくともUFCと彼が交渉のテーブルに着かせるためのきっかけになってほしいと思っています」

「対戦を妨げる多くの障害があるかもしれませんが、僅かながら望みはあります」

「それについては心配していません」

　まぁ、この決断についてどうこう言うのは野暮かも。本来ならとっくに引退しててもおかしくないわけだし。レスナー戦は長年トップを張ってきた意地を見せてもらいたいものです。
